31 Oct Emmet-Chalmers Firefighters put New Gear to Good Use
MACOMB, IL – The Emmet-Chalmers Fire Protection District, through the great support from their constituents, has put ten new sets gear out into the field. This gear has the latest safety requirements and has new features to keep the firefighters safe.
All new gear has to pass National Fire Protection Association standards for safety and quality. It is made up of many layers of material that keep high levels of heat out and shields the firefighter from feeling all of it on their body. This gear also has things added to make firefighters a little more comfortable. Padded knee areas and the way the gear is shaped helps the mobility range and reduces pressure points the gear may cause.
“This gear feels great,” added Emmet-Chalmers Firefighter Jacob Roberts. “It feels a little lighter than the previous gear and really durable.”
The new gear has features including padded knees, special material for trims on cuffs and edges, number identification on the tail of the coats and more pockets for tools. This gear was purchased to replace some gear lost in the flood of 2013 and with the generosity and support of the community. Thank you for all that helped out.
This gear will be displayed during our Annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser November 8th from 7am to 1pm.
