11 Dec Emmet – Chalmers Firefighters Build Sleigh for Santa
MACOMB, IL — Emmet – Chalmers Firefighters, with the help of the WIU Veterans Club, build a Santa sleigh for the upcoming Santa Food Drive. Over the past week, a pile of lumber was transformed into a sleigh fit for the jolly man himself. Vet’s Club members helped out from the design phase through ‘flight’ testing.
“This sleigh turned out way better than we ever imagined. We’re real proud of how it turned out and how we’ll use it to give back to the community,” says Assistant Chief Jeff Wayland.
Santa Claus will use this sleigh as he helps the Emmet – Chalmers Firefighters collect items for families in need on Saturday, December 13th. Starting at 1:00pm, the firefighters will be chauffeuring Santa Claus as he visits the Georgetown and Meadowbrook subdivisions. At about 4:00pm, Firefighters will then take Santa back to the Firehouse, located at 3041 West Adams Road, for anyone that missed Santa.
During Santa’s travels, firefighters will collect non-perishable food items, new toys and clothing to be donated to families in need in the area.
