27 Sep Emmet – Chalmers Firefighters Lead Meadowbrook Parade
MACOMB, IL — Emmet – Chalmers Firefighters led the Children’s Parade through the Meadowbrook subdivision on Sunday, September 27. Children of all ages rode bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers following the Emmet-Chalmers firefighters and their engine. After the parade, the community held a picnic and firefighters also showed the engine and some firefighting equipment to the children and community after the parade.
“It is very rewarding to interact with the community in this way,” said Firefighter Tim Choldas, “We get a chance to make connections we don’t usually get to make. The kids like checking out the fire truck and seeing the equipment we use. They also get a better understanding of how we operate.”
