07 Oct Fire Prevention Week – Day 2 “Fire is Fast”
Smoke alarms save lives!
If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out. The NFPA tells us a closed door may slow the spread of smoke, heat and fire. Installing smoke alarms in every sleeping room and outside each separate sleeping area maximizes the ability to hear a smoke alarm while sleeping. Smoke alarms should be installed on every level of the home, including the basement. Remember, large homes may need extra smoke alarms!
